Raids Conducted in 2020
Collaboration with Government Authorities
In collaboration with relevant government authorities in the UAE and the Department of Economic Development, Al-Futtaim Toyota, part of the Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, conducted 21 raids in 2020. These operations included inspections of retail stores across the seven emirates. These measures reflect Al-Futtaim Toyota's and government agencies' ongoing commitment to customer safety.
Results of the Raids
The raids led by government officials resulted in the seizure of over 300,000 counterfeit auto parts, including:
- 165,375 oil filters
The total value of the seized items amounted to 10.5 million AED. The confiscated products included usable items such as filters and spark plugs that consumers might find difficult to distinguish from genuine Toyota parts.
A Comprehensive Anti-Counterfeiting Campaign
Market Scans and Fines
The nationwide campaign included market scans, where local police forces, alongside government officials, seized counterfeit parts from the market and issued fines totaling 310,000 AED.
Training Programs for Officials
As part of its efforts to enhance the fight against the sale of counterfeit parts, Al-Futtaim Toyota, in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation's legal partners, launched ten training programs across the UAE. These initiatives aim to train over 400 government officials and field inspectors.
