Team's Defensive Strategy

Dubai. After dominating most events in the first half of the 2012/13 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East season, the Al Nabooda Racing Team has decided to adopt a more defensive strategy. This approach aims to maintain their lead in the team standings as the second half of the season kicks off next month in Saudi Arabia.

Driver Preparations

Both Schmid and Al-Azhari, members of the Al Nabooda Racing Team, have expressed their intentions to exert greater effort to avoid risks during rounds 7 and 8 of the 12-round series, which will take place at the Riyadh International Circuit from February 6-7.

Both drivers head to Saudi Arabia with a 20-point lead over their closest rivals, the Saudi Falcons, who will undoubtedly seek to leverage home advantage and close the gap.

Comments from Al-Azhari

Al-Azhari stated: “It will certainly be a challenging and significant test for us since the circuit is located in their home country. Therefore, we will adopt a more cautious and defensive strategy to avoid losing points.”

He added: “As we enter the second half of the season, we have a clear lead, and we will try not to rush or make mistakes in Riyadh. We need to be patient and avoid direct confrontations with the Saudi Falcons on their turf.”

Overall Team Status

Commenting on the team's overall situation, Al-Azhari remarked: “As a team, we are very satisfied with the first half of the season. Of course, we are leading the championship, and I won't hide it; it's a great position. We faced some setbacks at Yas Marina Circuit that reduced our points and cost Schmid the top position in the drivers' standings.”

He added: “We hope that bad luck does not strike us again this season, and we are optimistic about the second half and particularly the two rounds in Saudi Arabia, although we will face significant pressure. The last four rounds will be fair (in terms of location), and we can advance further. We must do our utmost to win and stay on the podium for as many rounds as possible.”

Overall Standings in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East

  1. Al Nabooda Racing Team: 245 points
  2. Saudi Falcons: 225 points
  3. Bahrain Team: 202 points
  4. Friggins Structure Steel (Qatar): 93 points
  5. Jibard Motorsport (Qatar): 56 points
