Introduction to the 2022 Honda Civic
Honda has just unveiled its all-new eleventh-generation Civic, and as expected, it is creating a buzz online. Packed with advanced technology, including a digital instrument cluster, a Bose sound system, and refreshed aesthetics, the new Civic represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
Design Enhancements
To achieve a more traditional look for the all-new Civic, Honda has repositioned the windshield pillars two inches back, resulting in a longer hood and more classic proportions. Additional changes include a wider rear track, which Honda claims accentuates the robust rear shoulders and rear LED taillights.
Interior Features
The interior of the new Civic showcases numerous screens, featuring a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 7-inch infotainment screen as standard. Higher trims are equipped with a 9-inch infotainment display, and features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across the range.
Practicality is key in the selection of interior materials, which are designed to minimize fingerprint visibility, moving away from the glossy "piano black" finishes that have become common in modern vehicle interiors. The materials chosen aim to provide a more premium aesthetic and tactile experience.
Engine Options
The new Civic will be offered with two four-cylinder engines:
- 158 hp 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine
- 180 hp turbocharged 1.5-liter engine - This engine produces 6 hp more than the previous generation's turbocharged option.
Both engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that features lower friction components and improved tuning to enhance the driving experience by mimicking a traditional transmission and providing intuitive downshifts during braking.
