All-New Bentley Flying Spur: Ultra Performance Hybrid and Enhanced Features

Bentley has shared a glimpse of the all-new Flying Spur set to be revealed next year. While the British carmaker has released only a glimpse of the front of the car, which looks nearly identical to its predecessor, significant changes are anticipated for the Flying Spur.

Ultra Performance Hybrid System: A Powerful Upgrade

They say don’t judge a book by its cover, and that saying holds true for the all-new Flying Spur. Although the single photo released by Bentley resembles the old Flying Spur, the new model will feature the brand’s Ultra Performance Hybrid system, also seen in the newly-revealed Continental GT.

The Ultra Performance Hybrid consists of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine combined with a single electric motor. In the new Continental GT, it produces an impressive 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. As a PHEV, the Flying Spur is expected to achieve “at least 45 miles” in pure EV mode. More detailed specifications will be available once the official WLTP figures are released.

Bentley has yet to disclose details regarding the battery of the Flying Spur. However, it is rumored that the premium sedan may feature the Continental GT’s 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack.

Subtle Exterior Tweaks and ADAS Enhancements

While the resemblance to its predecessor is apparent, several subtle tweaks have been made to the Flying Spur’s exterior. The grille now features a honeycomb design instead of vertical slits, the bumper intakes have been redesigned, and an additional sensor has been added for enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Bentley has indicated that more information will be revealed "in due course." Rumor has it that the Flying Spur could be unveiled in August during the Monterey Car Week.
