A car which could have been the Veyron of the 90s

We like rare cars because they define the love and passion for automotive excellence and not to just cash in on the final result. One such example we came across is the 1995 Lotec Mercedes-Benz C1000, a special one-off car capable of reaching speeds up to 430 km/h. This is a special feat considering the Bugatti Veyron came in the market almost a decade later. The ‘1000’ is a no-brainer and stands for the number of horses under the hood.

This bespoke car was an attempt to satisfy a U.A.E customer’s wish to own the fastest car in the world – which is not at all surprising to hear. Lotec took that challenge and fitted a 5.6 liter V8 from Benz with two turbos mated to a 5 speed gearbox. All this was enclosed in a carbon-fiber shell. The results were astonishing even by today’s standards. A brief summary of the performance stats are as follows.

·         1,000 Bhp and 732 lb-ft of torque

·         0-100 in 2.8 s

·         0-200 in 8.1 s

·         Total weight is just above 1,000 kg

·         Top speed is around 430 km/h

All this cost Lotec $2.2m and it is soon going up for auction happening from Oct 31st till Nov 3rd at the RK Motors Collector Car Auction.
