Abu Dhabi Launches Annual Parking Permits For Public Parking Spaces

Motorists in and around the emirate of Abu Dhabi will now be able to apply for annual parking permits to park their vehicles in blue and black painted spaces in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Charges for one month of parking are AED 391; charges for three months are AED 1,174; charges for six months are AED 2,348, and charges for the entire year are AED 4,695.

In order to avail of these parking permits, motorists can apply online through the ITC website and must submit copies of the emirates ID and vehicle registration card. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi said the service introduced by Mawaqif would ease life for the public who will not need to bother about hourly and daily parking fees.

“The permit is only eligible to be used in standard parking, and cannot be used in residents, villa areas, or premium parking spaces marked with white and blue paint,” authorities said.

The benefit of this new permit is that it is accessible to all, companies and individuals alike. All vehicles, except those with a public number plate, are able to apply. Moreover, even companies such as mail delivery companies and service providers can obtain permits for their vehicles and motorcycles.

It is important to note that this new permit does not replace resident parking permits. What it does replace is the daily parking ticket for standard parking which costs AED 2 per hour and AED 15 for the full day.

Since the permit is issued online, there is no need for motorists to display it on the dashboard of their vehicle. The ITC has also come forward to state, in case a permit holder is traveling, they could also submit a request to park their vehicle in dedicated parking spaces to avoid them being considered abandoned or getting towed.
