All New 2022 Honda Civic Makes International Debut

Honda has just taken the wraps off its all-new eleventh-generation Civic and as can imagine, it is breaking the internet. Packed full of tech, including a digital instrument cluster, a Bose sound system, and updated looks inside and out, it’s quite a big step up from the outgoing model. The reworked design is a big step in the right direction, with the brand moving away from the overly sculpted and futuristic design of its predecessor.

To give the all-new Civic a more traditional design, the team has moved the windshield pillars back two inches, giving the impression of a longer hood and more classic proportions. Part of the changes also includes a wider rear track, which Honda claims highlights the strong rear shoulders and rear LED taillights.

The new interior, as you would expect, has a lot more screens. There is now a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 7-inch infotainment screen as standard. Higher trims also receive a 9-inch infotainment screen, while features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard across the board.

The interior materials have been chosen with practicality in mind. That means that center console materials won’t show fingerprints as they do on the obnoxious “piano black” trim that seems to be making its way into all vehicle interior these days, and materials have been chosen to give the car a more premium look and feel.

The new Civic will be available with two four-cylinder engines, a 158 hp 2.0-liter naturally aspirated mill, and a 180 hp turbocharged 1.5-liter unit. The turbocharged engine’s figures mean it gets a 6 hp bump over the same engine from the last generation. It’s not the only thing that has been improved, though. The CVT that is mated to both engines gets lower friction components and improved tuning to better replicate a transmission with gears and will now downshift as drivers brake for a more intuitive experience.
