Behold: the muscular next-gen Ford Everest

Posted by Tejas Kokcha on Oct 17, 2023

The Ford Everest has made its mark across more than 100 countries worldwide and now it's looking to make its mark on the UAE market with its muscular looks, off-roading prowess, plush interior and safety features.

Ford designers made sure that the Everest looked like a proper SUV. The front end features a mix of horizontal and vertical elements  Front to rear, there is a strong shoulder line, and the vast track width results in a dramatic swell over the wheels, giving the Everest a robust and modern appearance.

Step inside and you will feel a sense of space thanks to the coast-to-coast instrument panel and center console. An 8-inch digital instrument panel replaces the traditional analogue dials. The 12-inch infotainment screen is portrait-oriented, as has become the case in most Fords, and is linked to a 360-degree camera with split-view display. There are dual cup holder recesses along with ‘pop-out’ cup holders for front-seat occupants mounted on the dashboard. The XLT and Limited trims come with wireless charging for your phone.

Flexible seating has been a priority for Ford with the next-gen Everest. On premium trim models, the second-row slides with a 60:40 split seatback and the 50:50 split third row can be folded with the press of a button. Significantly, both the second- and third-row seats fold flat to allow for the safe transport of large goods.

Talking about seating, Andrew Gregory, Brand Marketing Manager for Everest at Ford Middle East, said: “We’ve all been in vehicles with multiple rows of seats, where you have to twist your head around and almost shout to be heard by passengers in the second or third rows. That’s an issue we wanted to solve for Everest, so the interior would be a quiet place in which you can easily talk to your family or friends and enjoy the journey together.”

The Everest looks to provide best-in-class sound experience with the Bang & Olufson 12-speaker system - we can only dream how good songs will sound on that.

Two engines are on offer: the tried and tested 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The turbo-petrol offers 296 hp power and 420 Nm of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While talking about the power output of the turbo petrol EcoBoost, Ford says that its output is “more than any competitor V6”. The turbo diesel is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and offers a modest 168 hp and 405 Nm of torque.

The Everest’s 4x4 system comes with a 2-speed Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF) transfer case, underbody skid plates, a rear locking differential and off-road driving modes. Oh, and you also get two functional tow hooks upfront.

The SUV has dedicated off-road screens which display vehicle information and a front camera view of the terrain ahead. They even provide predictive overlay guidelines which aid in negotiating obstacles lying ahead. The driver can view their driveline and diff-lock indicators, steering angle and guidance, as well as vehicle roll and pitch angles, with a single button press. WOW

In terms of driving aids, Reverse Parking Aid, Rearview Camera and Auto Headlamps are available on every trim of the Everest. The Everest XLT comes with all the above and Front Parking Sensors while the Everest Limited features Collision Mitigation System, Reverse Brake Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage and Cross-Traffic Assist, Lane Change Warning and Aid and 360-Degree Camera.

“The Next-Gen Ford Everest is a truly remarkable vehicle – one that is capable, safe, smart and powerful,” said Pedro Simões, Marketing Director at Ford Middle East. “But just as important as the vehicle is a remarkable ownership experience.”

Simões further added: “Everest customers lead busy lives, juggling work, family time, a social life and recreation. They need their vehicle ownership experience to be easier and more rewarding, so we’ve created a collection of services that, depending on the market, are designed to help do just that.”
