Bentley Mulliner teases hand-built grand tourer Batur

Mulliner is Bentley’s coachbuilding division that loves to build beautiful, hand-built cars. Remember the gorgeous Bacalar? Yes, that was built by Mulliner. Now, Mulliner is coming up with its second product - the Batur - which will debut Bentley’s design language for its electric cars.

Bentley has revealed a couple of teaser images which show the iconic flying B badge above the Batur’s grille. The Batur will have a chrome grille with a V mesh pattern. The second image shows the car’s name which has been borrowed from Lake Batur in Bali, Indonesia.

We expect the Batur to have an electric powertrain and be produced in limited numbers like the Bacalar.

Talking about Bentley’s shift to EVs, the first Bentley EV due in 2026 will be a high-riding saloon built on Volkswagen Group’s SSP Platform. We’re told that cars featuring this platform will offer more than 300 miles (480km) range. Bentley’s CEO hinted that it could have as much as 1,400 horsepower and owners will be able to have 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds or 1.5 seconds. Now THAT will be some performance.

Going back to the Batur, Mulliner’s second offering and possibly its first all-electric one will be unveiled at the Monterey Car Week on August 20.
