About 5 years ago, we all heard about the trams that are being constructed in Dubai by Al Sofouh, when suddenly, the global crisis happened and the construction had to be delayed until further notice.

Finally, the work is back on track, with the construction continuing their work and a future of a new way of public transportation on the rise. The first vehicles are going to arrive in December of this year.

With a Dh 3.18 billion budget, the completion of the first stage will end in the autumn of next year, linking Dubai Marina to the Mall of the Emirates connecting to the city’s growing metro and Dubai Internet City.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, revealed in a progress report that more than 50 per cent of the overall project is completed, and 90 per cent of the tram depot (which is the most advanced work) has also been completed.

As reported by the National newspaper.
