Dubai Tram Construction Progress: A New Public Transportation System

About 5 years ago, the construction of the Dubai trams by Al Sofouh was announced. Unfortunately, the global crisis led to significant delays in the project.

Current Status of Construction

Finally, the work is back on track, with construction resuming and a new era of public transportation on the horizon. The first tram vehicles are expected to arrive in December of this year.

Project Budget and Timeline

The tram project has a budget of Dh 3.18 billion. The completion of the first stage is anticipated by the autumn of next year, which will link:

• Dubai Marina
• Mall of the Emirates
• Dubai Internet City

Completion Progress

According to a progress report by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, significant milestones have been achieved:

• More than 50% of the overall project is completed.
• 90% of the tram depot, which is the most advanced section of the project, has also been finalized.
