The Jaguar and Land Rover group has announced that it will be partnering with NVIDIA for getting futuristic autonomous driving tech and connected services. As part of the firm’s Reimagine strategy spearheaded by CEO Thierry Bolloré, the multi year NVIDIA partnership will help JLR foray into the autonomous car market.

Starting from 2025, all the Jaguar and Land Rover cars will be built on NVIDIA’s DRIVE software platform which will give buyers "next-generation automated driving systems, plus AI-enabled services.”

The NVIDIA Drive Software has the firm’s DRIVE AV and DRIVE IX software for safety, security and networking systems. NVIDIA’s DRIVE Orin will be the AI brain of the cars while the DRIVE Hyperion will be the central nervous system.

JLR has remained coy on what kind of connected and safety services the NVIDIA platform will offer but we expect that the cars will have features like active safety, parking systems, occupant monitoring, advanced visualisation and uprated safety aids. JLR is expecting future cars to get level three autonomous system with NVIDIA tech. With the level three system, a car is able to make environmental detections and make decisions without human input. The future for JLR cars looks pretty cool.

Thierry Bolloré, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer, said: “Collaboration and knowledge-sharing with industry leader NVIDIA is essential to realising our Reimagine strategy, setting new benchmarks in quality, technology and sustainability.

Jaguar Land Rover will become the creator of the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles and services for the most discerning customers. Our long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA will unlock a world of potential for our future vehicles as the business continues its transformation into a truly global, digital powerhouse,” he concluded.

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA founder and CEO, commented: “Next-generation cars will transform automotive into one of the largest and most advanced technology industries. Fleets of software-defined, programmable cars will offer new functionalities and services for the life of the vehicles. We are thrilled to partner with Jaguar Land Rover to reimagine the future of transportation and create the most advanced cars.”
