Introduction
The Jaguar and Land Rover group has announced a partnership with NVIDIA to integrate futuristic autonomous driving technology and connected services. This initiative is part of the firm’s Reimagine strategy, led by CEO Thierry Bolloré, aiming to position JLR into the autonomous car market.
Future Developments
Starting from 2025, all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will be built on NVIDIA’s DRIVE software platform. This platform will provide buyers with "next-generation automated driving systems, plus AI-enabled services."
NVIDIA DRIVE Software
The NVIDIA Drive Software includes:
- DRIVE AV: For safety and security systems.
- DRIVE IX: For networking systems.
- DRIVE Orin: The AI brain of the cars.
- DRIVE Hyperion: Serving as the central nervous system.
Expected Features
While JLR has not disclosed specific connected and safety services that will be offered through the NVIDIA platform, it is anticipated that the vehicles will include:
- Active safety features
- Advanced parking systems
- Occupant monitoring
- Advanced visualization
- Enhanced safety aids
Additionally, JLR expects future cars to achieve a level three autonomous system powered by NVIDIA technology. This level of automation allows vehicles to detect environmental conditions and make decisions without human intervention.
