Kia previews EV9 in final testing images

Kia will be revealing its flagship all-electric vehicle, the EV9, in the first quarter of 2023. With the launch nearing, the Korean carmaker has released images of the final testing in which the three-row premium EV can be seen in a camo wrap.

Unlike other Kias, the EV9 hasn’t got chiselled fenders and slab sides. Instead, it is very boxy and upright to provide maximum space and luxury. We can also see that the EV9 will have vertical headlights and a faux grille at the front.

Kia says that the EV9 has undergone rigorous testing during its development, which started 44 months ago, at the carmaker’s global Namyang R&D centre in Korea.

No further details have been revealed regarding the powertrain or interior of the car. We can speculate some specs from the EV9 concept revealed last year. The final production vehicle is expected to inherit the concept’s single-spoke, rectangle-shaped steering wheel and also have the predicted 300 miles range.

Kia’s current flagship EV, the EV6, has been garnering plaudits from all over the world as it was crowned the 2022 European Car of the Year. The EV9 will be inheriting the EV6’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform. It is looking to rival cars like the BMW iX, Tesla Model X, and Mercedes EQS SUV and make its mark like the EV6 has.
