Overview of the Kia EV9
Kia will be revealing its flagship all-electric vehicle, the EV9, in the first quarter of 2023. With the launch nearing, the Korean carmaker has released images of the final testing in which the three-row premium EV can be seen in a camo wrap.
Design Features
Unlike other Kias, the EV9 hasn’t got chiselled fenders and slab sides. Instead, it features a very boxy and upright design, which provides maximum space and luxury. Key design elements include:
- Vertical headlights
- Faux grille at the front
Testing and Development
Kia states that the EV9 has undergone rigorous testing during its development, which started 44 months ago, at the carmaker’s global Namyang R&D centre in Korea.
Specifications and Features
No further details have been revealed regarding the powertrain or interior of the car. However, we can speculate some specifications from the EV9 concept revealed last year. The final production vehicle is expected to inherit:
- Single-spoke, rectangle-shaped steering wheel
- Predicted 300 miles range
Market Position
Kia’s current flagship EV, the EV6, has been garnering plaudits from all over the world as it was crowned the 2022 European Car of the Year. The EV9 will inherit the EV6’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform and is looking to rival cars like:
- BMW iX
- Tesla Model X
- Mercedes EQS SUV
It aims to make its mark like the EV6 has.
