Per 1,000 km, petrol's gap to electric widens
A price per litre is easier to judge per kilometre. Take the family SUV from our running-cost comparison, which uses 9 litres per 100 km. At October's Special 95 rate it burns AED 385.20 of petrol every 1,000 km, AED 53.10 more than at September's price.

Energy cost per 1,000 km. Petrol at 9 litres per 100 km on Special 95; electric at 20 kWh per 100 km on the tariffs in our running-cost comparison.

Petrol, October | AED 385.20 |
Petrol, September | AED 332.10 |
EV on public DC | AED 240.00 |
EV on public AC | AED 140.00 |
EV at home, upper slab | AED 76.00 |
EV at home, lower slab | AED 46.00 |

Our charging figures date from that comparison, which was priced before October's rise. On those tariffs, charging the equivalent electric SUV at home costs AED 46 to AED 76 for the same distance. That is 80.3% to 88.1% less than petrol at October prices.
Public DC fast charging costs AED 240 per 1,000 km. In September that was only 27.7% cheaper than petrol; at October prices the saving is 37.7%.
Over 20,000 km a year, the petrol SUV's fuel bill would rise from AED 6,642 to AED 7,704 if October's price held for twelve months. That is AED 1,062 more.

Why prices jumped, and what comes next
Oil explains the size of the move. Brent crude traded above $100 a barrel through much of September, against an August average of about $87.7. On 29 September, the day before the rates were due, it stood at around $105-$107.
Our outlook that day pointed towards a rise. A month earlier the picture had been the opposite: Brent was below $90 and the outlook favoured stable or lower prices.
UAE pump prices have followed the market since liberalisation in 2015, with a review every month. November's rates will depend on where oil goes during October and cannot be known until the committee announces them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the petrol price in the UAE in October 2026?
A litre of Super 98 is AED 4.40, Special 95 is AED 4.28 and E-Plus 91 is AED 4.21. Diesel is AED 4.80 a litre. The same rates apply in every emirate.
How much did fuel prices go up in October 2026?
Petrol went up by AED 0.59 to AED 0.60 a litre, roughly 16%, and diesel by AED 0.50, or 11.6%. Measured from August, Super 98 is up AED 0.80 and Special 95 AED 0.79.
How much more does a full tank cost now?
It depends on the tank. A 60-litre fill of petrol costs AED 35.40 to AED 36 more than it did in September, and an 80-litre fill of Super 98 costs AED 48 more.
Is October the highest fuel price of 2026?
For petrol, yes, on the figures we hold. Our late-September outlook listed June as the 2026 high, with Super 98 at AED 3.95. October is AED 0.45 above that for all three petrol grades. We do not hold a full-year series for diesel.
Will fuel prices fall in November 2026?
Nobody can say yet. November's rates depend on oil prices during October and will be announced after the next monthly review. In late September, Brent was still above $100 a barrel.
How we worked this out
October rates are from YallaMotor's fuel price page, which reports the UAE Fuel Price Committee's announcement; the committee's October notice itself is not among our sealed sources. August and September are the committee's rates as published by WAM, and they match our page for all four grades. Changes are simple differences, and percentages are the change divided by the earlier month's price. Fill-up figures use illustrative fills of 60 and 80 litres and four fills a month. The cost per 1,000 km re-prices the family-SUV example from our running-cost comparison: 9 litres or 20 kWh per 100 km, and 20,000 km a year. Its charging tariffs were not re-checked for October. The June high and the Brent figures come from our 29 September outlook.
Assumptions used in our calculations
Illustrative fill-up: 60 litres — A round illustration, the same size our 29 September outlook uses (F35). It is not a typical tank size.
Larger tank: 80 litres — The larger tank our outlook also uses (F36), for big SUVs and pick-ups.
Illustrative fill-ups per month: 4 fill-ups — One fill-up a week, for illustration only.
Budgeting block: 100 litres — A round quantity that lets any driver scale the per-litre change to their own usage.
Yearly distance: 20,000 km — The yearly distance used in our running-cost comparison (F31).
