BEST SUVS UNDER AED 80,000 IN THE UAE: WHAT THEY COST TO BUY AND RUN

At September 2026 fuel prices, the Toyota Raize is cheapest to fuel, a used Creta or Rush is the cheapest three-year budget, and the MG ZS brings the strongest warranty we can confirm.

Key Takeaways

  • The Toyota Raize has the lowest and steadiest fuel bill: AED 4,428–4,797 a year at 20,000 km on Special 95.

  • The cheapest new SUV is the Renault Duster from AED 51,900; the Nissan Kicks is the dearest way in at AED 79,900.

  • A used Hyundai Creta or Toyota Rush is the cheapest three-year budget, at about AED 58,450–58,627 including fuel.

  • The MG ZS has a 6-year/200,000 km warranty, twice the Nissan Kicks' 100,000 km, though its resale trails Japanese rivals.

  • In city driving the Changan CS35 Plus ends up about AED 4,736 dearer than the Raize over three years, despite costing AED 1,000 less.

The short answer: which SUV suits which buyer

  • Lowest running costs: Toyota Raize, from AED 63,900, using about 6.0–6.5 L/100 km.

  • Lowest price new: Renault Duster, from AED 51,900, with a boot of 475 litres or more.

  • Strongest warranty we can confirm: MG ZS, 6 years or 200,000 km, from AED 60,499.

  • Seven seats on a budget: used 2020 Toyota Rush, listed from AED 38,500.

  • A roomy five-seater for used money: Hyundai Creta, listed from AED 40,000, with a 433-litre boot.

Budget for fuel, not just the sticker price

Inside the same AED 80,000 budget, yearly fuel bills range from about AED 4,341 to AED 6,709 at September prices, a gap of up to AED 2,281 a year.

Prices, space and fuel use at a glance

Six of the eight are new. The used Creta and Rush are here because they buy more space, or more seats, for less. New prices are published starting points; used prices are listing ranges, not what cars actually sell for.

We corrected four fuel-economy figures

Our shortlist's summary table was more optimistic than its own model sections for the ASX, Rush, Raize and CS35 Plus. This guide uses the section figures, for example 12.7 km/L for the ASX instead of 13–16 km/L.

What each SUV costs to fuel for a year

At 20,000 km a year on Special 95 at AED 3.69 a litre, fuel costs range from about AED 4,341 to AED 6,709 a year. Where our shortlist gives both a city and a highway figure, the chart shows both ends.

The Raize's fuel bill is lowest; the CS35 Plus and Rush swing highest

The Raize has the lowest worst case of the eight, at AED 4,797. The Duster can be cheaper on mostly highway driving (AED 4,341) but reaches AED 5,271 in town, the same as the Kicks.

The CS35 Plus and the used Rush swing the most, reaching about AED 6,709 a year when most driving is in the city.

Can your car run on E-Plus 91?

If your owner's manual allows E-Plus 91, every fuel figure here falls by about 2.2%, because E-Plus 91 costs AED 3.61 a litre against AED 3.69 for Special 95.

The three-year budget: buying plus fuel

Adding three years of fuel to the price changes the ranking. We used each model's higher fuel-use figure, which suits city-heavy driving, with the entry price for new models and the lowest listing price for used ones.

Over three years, a used Creta or Rush costs least; the Kicks costs most

Entry price (lowest listing for used models) plus three years of fuel at the higher consumption figure, 20,000 km a year.

A used Creta at about AED 58,450 comes in about AED 9,263 below the cheapest new SUV, the Duster, at about AED 67,713. A seven-seat used Rush is close behind at about AED 58,627.

Among new models, a lower price does not guarantee a cheaper car. The CS35 Plus costs AED 1,000 less than the Raize, yet in city driving it ends up about AED 4,736 dearer over three years (AED 83,027 against AED 78,291).

The Kicks is a choice, not a saving

At AED 79,900 the Nissan Kicks costs AED 28,000 more than the cheapest Duster, and about AED 17,422 more than a Raize over three years. Buy it for what it offers beyond running costs.

These budgets leave out insurance, servicing and resale, which our sources do not cover for all eight models, and used prices vary with mileage and condition.

Model by model: who each SUV suits

  • Toyota Raize (AED 63,900–66,900): the pick for low, predictable fuel bills. Our shortlist flags a hard-plastic cabin, a 369-litre boot and limited rear headroom.

  • Renault Duster (AED 51,900–71,900): the cheapest new entry with a 475–518-litre boot; its fuel bill depends heavily on how much of your driving is on highways.

  • MG ZS (AED 60,499–79,174): a 448-litre boot and a 6-year/200,000 km warranty that MG UAE says transfers to later owners, but it keeps about 50% of its value after three years, behind Japanese rivals.

  • Mitsubishi ASX (AED 59,900–80,000): 2WD trims fit the budget; 4WD versions cost around AED 84,000–89,000. Expect about 12.7 km/L and a 358-litre boot.

  • Changan CS35 Plus (AED 62,900–75,000): a 500-litre boot, but the highest city fuel bill of the new models, and our shortlist notes weaker resale and parts support.

  • Nissan Kicks (AED 79,900): new, with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty and about 14 km/L in mixed driving, but the dearest way into this list.

  • Used Hyundai Creta (AED 40,000–60,000): a 433-litre boot for used-car money and 12–15 km/L in mixed UAE driving.

  • Used Toyota Rush (2020, AED 38,500–54,000): seven seats for the least money, with a cramped third row and just 213 litres of boot space when every seat is in use.

How We Worked This Out

Prices, fuel use, boot space and warranties come from YallaMotor's shortlist published on 31 August 2026. Where its summary table was more optimistic than its model sections, we used the section figures. Fuel costs assume 20,000 km a year on Special 95 at the September 2026 rate of AED 3.69 a litre: distance divided by km/L, or multiplied by L/100 km, then multiplied by the price. Three-year budgets add the entry price, or the lowest used listing, to three years of fuel at each model's higher consumption figure. Insurance, servicing and resale are not included.

Assumptions used in our calculations

  • Annual distance: 20,000 km — A round figure for a daily UAE commute, used for illustration.

  • Ownership period: 3 years — A three-year illustration for combining purchase price with fuel. Insurance, servicing, and resale are not included.
