Lexus LC 2018 interior unveiled

The upcoming 2018 Lexus LC luxury coupe is turning out to be one of the most anticipated cars for the next year. It is after all Lexus’ attempt to create the GT car to battle the German monopoly. Well, after minute leaks here and there, the company has unveiled the full fledge photos of the interior. Bear in mind, this is still in pre-production stage so bits and pieces will be changed with the course of time. But, from what I see now, this car can have the best combination of colors seen in a car.

The greatest achievement for the LC might be the fact that the car is heavily inspired by the exclusive LFA. In fact, just to make things more interesting, the LC will be manufactured at the same facility as the LFA. The facility is called Motomachi. “The LC will be built at the Motomachi plant, the same factory where we produced the LFA and some of the Takumi who worked on that model are now working exclusively on the new coupe,” said Lexus Takumi Koji Sato. “This way we have been able to tap into their knowledge and experience in areas such as the carbon fiber components, leatherwork and hand-finishing.”

Coming to the interior, the LC’s cabin is really a piece of art. There is no sign of plastic as the designers have filled all the surfaces with premium upholstery that is either leather or alcantara. The materials will also have customized stitching patterns to give that extra bit of exclusivity. Moreover, the interior design doesn’t forget the ergonomics as well. The engineers went to extreme lengths to make everything feel just right e.g. the steering wheel shape was sculpted to fit the hands perfectly. This included the placement of the paddle shifts too. The Lexus LC will be available in 2 powertrains – a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 producing 467 BHP and a 3.5 V6 hybrid engine producing 354 BHP. Both the engines are mated to a 10-speed gearbox and the drive will be to the rear wheels only.
