2018 Lexus LC: An Anticipated Luxury Coupe
Overview of the 2018 Lexus LC
The upcoming 2018 Lexus LC luxury coupe is becoming one of the most anticipated cars for next year. This is Lexus’ attempt to create a GT car to challenge the German monopoly. After several leaks, the company has unveiled full photos of the interior. Bear in mind that this is still in the pre-production stage, so some elements may change over time. However, it appears that this car can showcase the best combination of colors seen in an automobile.
Design and Inspiration
The greatest achievement for the Lexus LC might be its design, heavily inspired by the exclusive LFA. To make things more interesting, the LC will be manufactured at the same facility as the LFA, called Motomachi. “The LC will be built at the Motomachi plant, the same factory where we produced the LFA and some of the Takumi who worked on that model are now working exclusively on the new coupe,” said Lexus Takumi Koji Sato. “This way we have been able to tap into their knowledge and experience in areas such as carbon fiber components, leatherwork, and hand-finishing.”
Interior Features
The LC’s cabin is truly a piece of art. There is no sign of plastic as designers have adorned all surfaces with premium upholstery made of either leather or alcantara. The materials come with customized stitching patterns to add an extra touch of exclusivity. Additionally, the interior design also considers ergonomics; for example, the shape of the steering wheel is sculpted to fit the hands perfectly, including the placement of the paddle shifters.
Performance Specifications
The Lexus LC will be available in two powertrains:
- Naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 467 BHP
- 3.5-liter V6 hybrid engine producing 354 BHP
Both engines are paired with a 10-speed gearbox, delivering power exclusively to the rear wheels.
