This is pleasant piece of news. Mclaren has released its first road-friendly GT cruiser in the form of 570GT. Yes, the same 570S has been converted into a daily driver with practicality. The ‘Grand Tourer’ image is mainly due to the fact that this car has 220 liters of storage space in addition to the 150 liters already present. So in total, the boot space is now 370 liters.

Other luxurious features include leather seats instead of buckets, new road-friendly alloys, rear engine cover to marvel at the engine block, softer suspension setup to manage the road bumps (15% softer in the front and 10% at the rear), panoramic sunroof (the roof glass is treated with 18 percent transmission tint), leather dash, new exhaust system  and specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres which will help in reducing noise in the cabin, steel brakes are being used instead of carbon ceramics, spoiler stands 10mm taller than the 570S and electrically adjustable seats with heaters.

The added features do increase the bulk of the car. In total, the 570GT is 37 kilograms heavier than the 570S but that is not necessarily bad. After all, the difference in acceleration between 570S and 570GT is twentieth of a second. In other words, the 570GT takes 3.4 seconds to reach 100 from standstill as compared to 570S which takes 3.2 seconds. Both the cars are powered by the same 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 562 BHP and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox for smooth shifts on the road.

Finally the prices; well the 570GT starts from 214,300 USD i.e. AED 793,950. This is about 15000 USD more than the 570S but the tradeoff is worth the added expenditure. This new Sport Series by Mclaren is surely the range of cars that will boost the volume of sales as they are highly attainable by sports car standards and will do the job of being the daily driver.
