McLaren Special Operations, the brand’s bespoke division, announced the creation of the MSO Carbon Series LT. Strictly limited to 25 units globally and based on the 675LT Spider, the Carbon Series LT is the brand’s response to requests from discerning customers.

Remaining true to the ‘Longtail’ ethos established by the McLaren F1 in the late 1990s, the MSO Carbon Series LT is developed with a focus on light weight and optimized aerodynamics. The McLaren Track Telemetry pack, which includes three track cameras, is fitted as standard equipment while the front wings also house GT3-inspired functional louvres.

Featuring nearly 40 percent more carbon fibre than the standard car, the 675LT Coupé stands to be the third model in the line-up to be bestowed with the prestigious LT badge. More efficient turbos, changes to the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, lightweight connecting rods and a faster-flowing fuel pump, make the Carbon Series LT good for 666 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

For the numerically challenged bunch, that equates to acceleration from a standstill to the 100 km/h mark in 2.9 seconds and to 200 km/h mark in an eye-watering 8.1 seconds. Pin the pedal to the metal and the Carbon Series LT will accelerate into the horizon until topping out at a very respectable 326 km/h.

Production of the MSO Carbon Series LT is set to begin this autumn with the first round of deliveries expected before the end of 2016.
