Mercedes-Benz wowed the world with the launch of the brand new S-Class in 2013. This car became the new benchmark of automotive innovation and was an instant success. But, now it is time to look in the future. And, the German brand is already out on the streets testing the mid-cycle facelift prototype before the official launch. Rumors suggest that this model will land next year as the 2018 model. This works fine as the S-Class debuted in 2013 as 2014 model so 4 years for one particular model is fair enough.

Coming to the car itself, the pictures don’t reveal much. The exterior seems to resemble the current design. The only major difference being the changes in headlights, exhaust tips and bumpers. The headlight shape is the same but the LED units inside have been placed in a different manner. The next-generation Mercedes Multibeam LED matrix headlight technology is supposed to debut in the new S-Class. This technology basically allows the user to keep the high beams turned ON forever and the sensors will do the rest.

There are some changes done to the interior as well. The dual digital 12.3” screens appear a bit bigger than before and their UI has also been revised to suit the modern needs. Moreover, the multi-functional steering wheel design also looks new. It looks fatter than before which will be a welcome change. Rumors suggest that Mercedes too will introduce gesture controls like the new BMW 7 Series. Moreover, the new 9-speed auto transmission will also be part of the S-Class
