Nissan launches clever safety system for Middle East models

Safety is becoming a priority for customers in the UAE and Nissan has identified that and launched the Safety Shield® 360 system - sounds pretty cool, right?

The Safety Shield® 360 system will become part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies and bring its phenomenal safety tech to all models in the UAE. The system basically actively monitors, assists, and reacts to surroundings to prevent potential collisions by combining six technologies.

The first one is Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection which tracks vehicles and crossing pedestrians using a forward-facing radar. It gives visual warnings and can even apply the brakes in case of an emergency. 

Next comes the lane departure warning which monitors the left and right-side lane markers of the traveling lane, flashes an indicator and sounds a warning chime. Moving on to the High Beam Assist and Blind Spot Warning, two bits of clever safety tech which are becoming quite common in cars and Nissan has integrated them into this innovative system as well.

Moving on to Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Automatic Braking - the former processes information from the camera and sensors, monitors moving vehicles, pedestrians, or objects that may be out of sight and alerts drivers when reversing out of a parking spot. Even a 360 degree view feature will be available on select models. 

The latter of the aforementioned two detects stationary objects behind a vehicle and, if necessary, applies the brakes to avoid a rear collision or lessen the severity of an impact.
