Nissan Navara 2017 launched

Nissan Middle East held an exclusive launch event in Barcelona for the all-new 2017 Nissan Navara. The event was called the ‘Legacy event’ because the venue chosen was Mas Cabanyes – a house built in 1568 and served 18 generations of family. Moreover, the Navara itself has been in production for 80 years since 1933. So, there is a lot of heritage behind this pickup.

Samir Cherfan – the Managing Director of Nissan Middle East opened the event with a brief history of the Navara. He mentioned that the Navara has been in the market for 12 generations and those 12 gens – in total – represent 12% of total historical sales of Nissan. The first Nissan pickup was the Datsun 12 and was launched in 1933.

The all-new Navara is replacing the D22 and D40 pickups. It is the combination of the two models. This is because Nissan took a consumer survey of both D22 and D40 and found out that the D22 is affordable, has a powerful engine and durable but lacks innovation and stature. On the other hand D40 has modern look, comfortable interior and powerful engine but lacks durability, has a high price point and low resale value. So, the new Navara takes the best qualities of both the previous models and is marketed as a pickup used for both commercial and family use.
