The Mercedes AMG ONE has finally entered production

Back in 2017, Mercedes shocked the world with a hypercar that would bring F1-like performance to the road - the AMG ONE. Five years since its reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes has announced that the mind-boggling hypercar has entered production. Why are we using the words ‘mind-boggling’? Then sit back and let your thine brains be blown out by the AMG ONE’s performance numbers.

The AMG ONE has an F1 derived V6 turbo hybrid F1 engine that has been slightly tinkered with so it meets the Euro 6 emissions. The single-turbo V6 alone produces 566 horsepower and is assisted by a quartet of electric motors, two that power the front wheels and produce a combined 322 hp, third one that sends 161 hp to the crankshaft and a fourth one which is linked to the turbocharger and adds 121 horsepower.

And the electric trickery doesn’t end there as the AMG ONE also has an 8.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack good for letting the car travel 11 miles (18 kilometers). To top it all off, the powertrain redlines all the way till 11,000 rpm.

As a result, 0-60mph takes 2.9 seconds and 0-124mph can be achieved in just 7 seconds. SEVEN SECONDS to reach 124 mph (200 km/h). And it’ll go all the way till 219 mph (352 km/h).

This engineering marvel has got the approval of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. It will be put together at Mercedes AMG’s facility in Coventry, UK as the quad e-motor setup will be made by the Mercedes High Performance Powertrains division in Brixworth.

Want some more numbers? Only 275 will be made with each one costing $2.7 million.
