Volvo Planning V40 Polestar

Like various brands, Volvo also has a performance version of their cars called Polestar and now they are thinking about a V40 Polestar. This is not a surprise considering Ford is making an RS version of Focus. The RS is an even more powerful than the ST. If rumors are true then Focus RS will produce 300+ BHP. So, Volvo has to compete with that car and they very well have the tools to achieve the target – an all-new 315 BHP turbocharged and supercharged 4-cylinder engine from the next generation XC90. Theoretically, this will make the Polestar accelerate from 0-100 in under 6 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 250 km/h. Other speculations include:

- Chassis upgrades like the V60 Polestar including Brembo brakes, stiffer suspension and antiroll bars.

- All Wheel Drive

The price will be a key factor in determining the success or failure of the V40 as it needs to be priced around 30,000 pounds to compete with Audi S3 and BMW M135i.
