Introducing a Limited-Edition Convertible Masterpiece
Aston Martin has unveiled its latest marvel: the V12 Vantage Roadster. This unique, limited-production convertible merges the exhilarating performance of Aston Martin's most powerful Vantage with the pure joy of open-top driving.
Exclusive and Sold Out Before Launch
All 249 units of the V12 Vantage Roadster were snapped up by eager customers even before its official debut. This rare edition features a wide-body design, low-slung suspension, and is the first Vantage Roadster to be powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Delivering 700 hp, this convertible elevates the open-air driving experience with remarkable stability at high speeds and the exhilarating sound of its potent 12-cylinder engine.
Engineering Excellence and Driving Passion
Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin's Chief Technical Officer, commented: "We worked tirelessly to ensure the V12 Vantage Roadster delivers the dynamic capabilities of the V12 Vantage coupe, yet pushes the boundaries of open-top driving enjoyment. Designed for our most passionate customers, this model surpasses all previous Vantage Roadsters in power, torque, and responsive handling, boasting a wide chassis and a suspension system that delivers ten times more downforce."
Powerful V12 Engine and Unrivaled Performance
The heart of the V12 Vantage Roadster is its 5.2-liter V12 engine with a quad overhead camshaft layout, generating an impressive 700 hp at 6,500 rpm and 753 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. With a power-to-weight ratio of 372 hp per ton, every press of the accelerator unleashes unforgettable driving dynamics, delivering immediate gearbox response and astonishing acceleration.
Stunning Acceleration and Advanced Transmission
Setting new benchmarks for open-top sports cars, the V12 Vantage Roadster accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 200 mph. It features an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential on the rear axle, ensuring balanced, rear-wheel-drive performance. Adaptive transmission software monitors driving conditions, enhancing responsiveness and driver engagement.
Suspension, Steering, and Dynamic Enhancements
Sharing its suspension hardware with the V12 Vantage coupe, the Roadster benefits from bespoke adaptive dampers for peak dynamic performance. The steering system, borrowed from the V12 Vantage, features finely tuned mirrors for sharper steering and greater agility through corners, delivering a truly lively driving experience.
Carbon Ceramic Brakes for Superior Stopping Power
Like its coupe counterpart, the V12 Vantage Roadster comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes. The front brakes utilize 410 mm x 38 mm discs with six-piston calipers, while the rear brakes feature 360 mm x 32 mm discs with four-piston calipers. These brakes not only enhance stopping power and resist heat-induced wear but also reduce unsprung mass by 23 kg compared to steel brakes, improving handling and ride quality.
Lightweight Construction and Aerodynamic Innovation
Extensive use of lightweight materials sets this Roadster apart. The front bumper, hood, front fenders, and side sills are crafted from carbon fiber, while the rear bumper and trunk lid utilize lightweight composite materials. A lightweight battery and a unique, centrally-mounted dual-exit exhaust system made from 1-mm-thick stainless steel further reduce weight by 7 kg compared to the standard Vantage Roadster. The exhaust is meticulously tuned to deliver a sound profile worthy of the car's muscular aesthetic.
Design and Aerodynamics: Form Meets Function
The Roadster's striking wide-body design accommodates the broad suspension, adding 40 mm to the width compared to standard Vantage models. The front bumper integrates seamlessly with the wide front splitter, generating additional downforce and optimal aerodynamic balance. Enhanced cooling is ensured by a redesigned front grille that is 25% larger, complemented by a horseshoe-shaped engine vent on the bonnet.
Refined Aerodynamic Features and Tailored Options
Aerodynamic enhancements include a one-piece side sill and a rear bumper integrated with a compact diffuser, all optimized by the centrally-mounted dual exhaust. Unlike the coupe, the Roadster comes without a standard rear spoiler, offering customers a more understated look, although a rear wing is available as an optional extra. Underbody airflow management preserves aerodynamic stability, even with the minimalist design.
Distinctive Wheels and High-Performance Tires
The V12 Vantage Roadster features 21-inch forged aluminum wheels, available in Satin Black or Satin Black Diamond Turned finishes. Optional lightweight, diamond-turned wheels reduce unsprung mass by an additional 8 kg. Standard equipment includes Michelin Pilot 4S tires—275/35 R21 at the front and 315/30 R21 at the rear—providing exceptional grip and performance.
Luxurious and Sporty Interior Appointments
Drawing on the Vantage’s strong heritage, the Roadster comes standard with Sports Plus seats upholstered in aniline leather, featuring the iconic Aston Martin wings and decorative perforations. For those seeking ultimate performance and style, optional carbon fiber performance seats are available, manually adjustable in six ways and reducing weight by 7.3 kg without compromising comfort.
Bespoke Customization with Q by Aston Martin
Owners can personalize their V12 Vantage Roadster through Q by Aston Martin, the marque's bespoke division. Customization options encompass everything from exterior graphics to intricate leather interior detailing. The exposed carbon fiber surfaces offer a perfect canvas for creative finishes, including color-shifting effects that enhance the hand-crafted panels under different lighting conditions.
Designer Insights: The Harmony of Art and Performance
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, explains: “The V12 Vantage Roadster fuses vibrant aesthetics with peerless performance, reminiscent of elite athletes or thoroughbred racehorses. Its design ensures optimal airflow around and through the car, much like how athletes optimize their bodies for peak efficiency and power. The result is a stunning, open-top sports car that delivers unmatched driving pleasure and control—a true work of art brought to life.”
Production and Delivery Timeline
Production of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2022, with first customer deliveries planned for the final quarter of the year.
