WHICH AUDI SHOULD YOU BUY? WHAT OUR 51 EXPERT RATINGS SAY

Every Audi scores between 4.2 and 4.6 out of 5 overall, so the sub-scores decide: performance cars take the top spots, the A8 leads for comfort, and the value score is not a price ranking.

Key Takeaways

  • All 51 Audis score between 4.2 and 4.6 out of 5 overall, a spread of only 0.4 points; 25 of them (49%) score exactly 4.3.

  • Six models share the top score of 4.6, and every one of them has a full 5.0 for performance: R8 Coupe, R8 Spyder, RS 3 Sportback, RS Q8, RS6 Avant and RS7.

  • The A8 leads for comfort at 4.8, 0.53 points above the range average of 4.27; the S8 (4.7), Q8 and SQ8 (4.6) follow.

  • Value for money tops out at 4.5, shared by 14 models from the Q3 Sportback to the R8 Coupe, so the score is not a ranking from cheap to dear.

  • The RS 3 Sportback scores 0.5 points higher for design and 0.4 higher for value than the mechanically identical RS3 Sedan; we have flagged the pair for review.

The finding: the overall score is a blunt instrument

YallaMotor's expert reviews score every Audi on five scales: an overall rating and four sub-scores for performance, comfort, design and value for money.

Across all 51 models the overall score runs only from 4.2 to 4.6, and 25 models, or 49% of the range, sit on exactly 4.3. Read on its own, the overall score tells you almost nothing about which Audi to choose.

The sub-scores separate the Audi range far more than the overall score does

The sub-scores spread wider. Performance runs from 4.0 to 5.0, design from 4.0 to 5.0, comfort from 4.0 to 4.8 and value from 4.0 to 4.5. So the useful method is to shortlist by overall score and then choose on the sub-score that matters to you.

Six at the top, all with a perfect performance score

Six models share the highest overall score of 4.6: the R8 Coupe, R8 Spyder, RS 3 Sportback, RS Q8, RS6 Avant and RS7. Each has a performance score of 5.0. Eight models in the range reach 5.0 for performance; the other two, the RS3 Sedan and the RS5 Cabriolet, score 4.5 overall.

YallaMotor analysis: Performance pays for the top spots, and costs comfort

The six top-scoring cars score between 4.0 and 4.5 for comfort, below the A8, S8, Q8 and SQ8. A family buyer who shortlists by the overall score alone will end up looking at performance cars.

Comfort has one leader; value has fourteen

The A8 scores 4.8 for comfort, 0.53 points above the range average of 4.27 and the highest comfort score of any Audi. The S8 follows at 4.7, then the Q8 and SQ8 at 4.6. For long highway runs between the emirates, or for a car that is driven for you, the ratings point at the A8 and S8.

Value for money is flatter. The highest score is 4.5, and 14 models share it, from the Q3 Sportback to the R8 Coupe. Seven models sit at the lowest score of 4.0: the RS3 Sedan, A3 Sportback, A5 Coupe, Q7, S6, Q3 and SQ5.

Watch out: A 4.5 value score does not mean cheap

The review pages carry no prices, and the value score is a judgement of what each car offers for its money. The R8 Coupe and the Q3 Sportback share the same 4.5. Check the price on the model page before you read anything into it.

The e-tron group is the surprise in second place. Its four models average 4.40 overall, above every petrol group except RS and R8, because the e-tron GT and the Q8 e-tron both score 4.5 and neither of the older e-tron SUVs drops below 4.3.

Grouped by badge, the RS and R8 models average 4.50 overall, the four e-tron models 4.40, the S and SQ models 4.33, the A range 4.31, the three TTs 4.30 and the seven core Q models 4.29. The gap between the top and bottom group is 0.21 points, which again says the badge order follows the performance weighting.

  • Performance: any of the six 4.6 cars. Among SUVs the RS Q8 is the highest rated at 4.6, and our video reviews put it at 591 hp with 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

  • Comfort: the A8 at 4.8, then the S8 at 4.7.

  • Electric: the e-tron GT and the Q8 e-tron, both 4.5 overall, the highest-scoring electric Audis.

  • Value: the Q3 Sportback at 4.5, the only one of the seven core Q models to reach the ceiling.

The full table, and where our own scores disagree

The table below holds every score. Sort it in your head by the column that matters: a performance buyer reads the second column, a family reads comfort, and anyone on a budget should read value with the warning above in mind. The overall column is the least useful of the five, because 25 models share one number.

The RS 3 Sportback scores 4.5 for design and 4.4 for value; the RS3 Sedan, the same car with a boot, scores 4.0 for both. The gaps are 0.5 and 0.4 points. These are editorial ratings, and where two body styles differ this much we treat the scores as a range. The pair has been flagged to the reviews editor.

How We Worked This Out

Scores come from the rating panel on each of YallaMotor's 51 Audi expert-review pages (2024 model-year reviews, updated March 2025) and were extracted from the pages' structured rating fields. Averages, spreads and counts are our arithmetic over those 51 records. Groups are assigned from the model name: RS and R8; S and SQ; e-tron; Q; A; TT. The RS Q8's power and acceleration figures come from our video review descriptions, not from the rating pages. The review records hold no prices or review text, so value scores are not compared with cost.
