2024 Nissan Z Nismo: Performance, Features, and Design

Introduction

Last month we reported that Nissan released a teaser of the Z Nismo. Now, the Japanese brand has unveiled its beefed-up sports car and things are looking quite good.

Performance Enhancements

The clever engineers at Nissan have been able to achieve an extra 20 horsepower and 34 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 by enhancing the cooling system and adding boost. The Z Nismo now boasts 420 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque at its disposal, with all the power sent to the rear wheels.

Instead of a manual gearbox, the Z Nismo comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While Nissan claims that the nine-speed transmission "has been enhanced for faster and more dynamic shifting performance," enthusiasts may miss the manual gearbox.

Exterior Design

On the outside, the Z Nismo has received the full Nismo treatment, featuring:

• Red accents
• A lip spoiler at the base of the front fascia
• A wider, taller, and larger three-piece rear spoiler

Handling and Suspension

There’s plenty of grip available thanks to a combination of:

• Stiffer suspension
• Braced underfloor
• Retuned dampers
• Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires

This setup not only provides loads of grip but also makes the Z Nismo 2.5 percent stiffer than the standard Z. Improved braking is achieved with:

• 15-inch rotors at the front
• 13.8-inch disc brakes at the back

Interior Features

The Z Nismo introduces a new Sport+ driving mode to enhance performance on the track. Recaro seats finished in a mix of leather and Alcantara fabric give the cabin a sporty aesthetic, complemented by red trim throughout.

It’s not all about performance; the Z Nismo also features a 9-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto (wired). Additionally, driver aids such as lane-departure warning and forward collision warning enhance safety.

Color Options and Availability

The Nissan Z Nismo is available in five colors:
