Benefits of DSG Transmission and Its Impact on the Future of Cars
In the past, choosing between a manual or automatic transmission in a car was significant. Manual transmissions were known for their superior control and performance. As some enthusiasts say, driving a manual is a true testament to being a car lover.
Interestingly, we believe that the decline of manual transmissions has been influenced by women, leading to the invention of what is known as DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox). This system emulates the functionality of a manual gearbox but utilizes a dual-clutch setup for electronic control. The DSG eliminates the need for a clutch pedal, offering either full automatic control or semi-automatic control. This technology allows a vehicle to be in two gears simultaneously, significantly reducing shift times and providing smoother gear changes compared to traditional manual systems.

What Are the Benefits of DSG Transmission?
There is a clear relationship between manual transmissions and the delay in shifting gears. When using a DSG, the time taken to move to the next gear is significantly reduced, alongside transmitting more power to the drive shaft, minimizing energy loss.
The convenience offered by the DSG cannot be overlooked. A 25-minute journey will involve multiple shifts with a manual gearbox, not to mention the effort required during rush hour. In contrast, an automatic transmission provides a stress-free driving experience, especially after a long day at work.
While it was once believed that manual transmissions were more fuel-efficient than their automatic counterparts, this is no longer the case. Modern CVT and DSG systems now offer better fuel efficiency, especially with new models featuring up to 10-speed automatic transmissions.

What Remains of Manual Transmissions?
In reality, not much remains of manual transmissions. While I can keep a manual vehicle for weekend enjoyment, it’s undeniable that advancements often overshadow older technologies, eventually leading to their decline.
Surely, there will always be a group of car enthusiasts who will oppose this and continue to cherish their manual cars until the end of their days. However, an important question arises: how much time is left for manual transmissions to disappear? Personally, I am not as concerned about the decline of manual gearboxes as I am about the potential end of gasoline engines in the future.
