In January 17 1953, the very first Corvette prototype was shown at the GM Motorama event in New York, but the first production car came out on June 30 1953.
Chevrolet celebrated their Corvette's 60th anniversary on June 30 2013. Nowadays, you pay close to a million dollars to buy a Corvette, but back then the price was $3,498, with only 300 cars of the first generation, all of them in Polo White with red interior.
Celebrating the anniversary, they launched the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition, where only 500 examples will be built. The engine will be a 6.2 liter V8 with 460 horsepower.
The price of this iconic sports car will be announced closer to the 2014 Corvette Stingray's sales launch in September.
