Improving Commuter Comfort at RTA Bus Stops in Dubai

Issues Faced by Commuters
Commuters have expressed their frustrations regarding bus stops that lack adequate air-conditioning or have non-functional systems, making travel by RTA buses a challenging experience during the heat.
RTA's Response to Complaints
An RTA spokesperson addressed these commuter complaints, stating:
“Some of the shelters have limitations in accessing infrastructure, and we are currently studying alternative energy sources to enhance user comfort. Definite solutions are being evaluated to determine the best possible ways to improve the performance of the shelters using renewable power sources.”
Addressing Shelter Design Issues
The RTA also acknowledged the concerns regarding bus stops that lack roofs or shade, indicating that these issues are being actively addressed.
Strategic Plan for Improvement
The spokesperson further mentioned:
“As part of our strategic plan to provide a comfortable and convenient service to the residents of Dubai, we are currently installing shades at major passenger generation points, such as waiting platforms at bus stations, ensuring they are completely sun-protected during the hot months.”
