Tata Motors Plans Assembly Factory in Saudi Arabia
Overview of the Arabian Automotive Market
The Arabian market has always been one of the strongest markets targeted by automotive car makers.
Tata Motors' Strategic Move
As reported by Reuters, considering that most of the new cars use aluminum, Tata Motors saw an opportunity to enhance its operations. The company is planning to collaborate with the world’s largest aluminum smelter, which is currently being built in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to establish an assembly factory in the region.
Ratan Tata's Remarks
"This smelter could make the production of aluminum in Saudi Arabia very competitive. So taking a really long-term view, if we put an assembly plant there with a large press shop, given our commitment to aluminum in our products, we could have an interesting business case which we are examining today," stated Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata in remarks published in Autocar India.
