Announcement of Ricciardo's Replacement

The identity of Mark Webber’s replacement at Red Bull Racing next year will be Daniel Ricciardo, as Webber virtually gave away the information.

Webber's Comments

When asked who he would like to see racing with Red Bull Racing alongside the current world champion Sebastian Vettel, Webber answered:

"The decision's made. We all know who it is. I'm happy with that decision.”

Webber added: "It's good for him and good for Australia."

Contenders for the Position

Ricciardo currently drives for Red Bull Racing's feeder team Scuderia Toro Rosso. Other fellow contenders included:

  • Jean-Eric Vergne (France)
  • Kimi Räikkönen (Finland, Lotus)

Webber hinted that neither of the other two contenders would be a good placement for Australia, as they are not Australian.

Ricciardo's Response

In response to Webber’s comments, Daniel Ricciardo stated that nothing has been confirmed yet.
