His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change, is set to join hundreds of participants in the world's largest electric vehicle journey, covering a distance of 1,000 kilometers with 15 electric cars. This initiative encourages the shift towards smart transportation and electric vehicles.
Global Recharge Race
This year's event will feature the launch of the Global Recharge Race, highlighting the benefits of regenerative braking in electric vehicles and its role in transforming the automotive sector. Participants will race electric cars from various brands to the summit of Jais Mountain, reaching an altitude of 1,934 meters (6,345 feet), to discover how much energy can be generated during the descent.

Hyundai and One Moto have confirmed their participation and support for the journey, seizing the opportunity to showcase their electric vehicle lineups during a six-day exploratory journey across the UAE from March 25 to March 30, 2020.

Bangseon Jeong, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai for the Middle East and Africa, said: "We are very excited to participate in EVRT Dubai 2020 to showcase the Hyundai Kona and Hyundai Ioniq for the first time in the region during this unique electric vehicle journey in Dubai."
"We are currently planning to produce a lineup of 21 fully electric models, including battery electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles."
