FIA's Recent Action

The FIA has prohibited wireless communications that assist in driving performance. This move is part of the International Automobile Federation's ongoing efforts to ensure a balance between driver skill and technological assistance.

Details of the Ban

According to the FIA, this decision enforces Article 20.1 of the sporting regulations, which states:

"The driver must drive the car alone and unaided."

Permitted Communication

However, drivers will still be able to communicate with engineers regarding:

  • Safety
  • Relevant pit stop advice

They will not be allowed to discuss or receive guidance on actual driving. Conversations will continue to be available during public sessions at live F1 races.
