Mandatory Fire Extinguisher in Vehicles

Starting from September 1, drivers must carry a fire extinguisher in their cars at all times or they will be fined. This new regulation is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing road safety.

Safety Campaign

The campaign titled "Our Goal is Your Safety" is initiated by Abu Dhabi Police to explain the importance of this move for the security and safety of society.

Cost of Fire Extinguishers

Depending on the size of the fire extinguisher, prices range between Dh79 and Dh159. These can be purchased at most hardware shops. The small size weighs approximately 1.5kg.

Educating Motorists

Brigadier Gaith Hassan Al Za'abi, the Director General of the Traffic Coordination Department, stated:

"Its key objective is to educate motorists on the need to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their vehicles; perform regular maintenance and check the validity of the vehicles' tyres, to maintain their own safety."

Details on Fines

It is still unclear how much the fine for not complying with this regulation will be. However, a representative from the Ministry of Interior has indicated that a more detailed announcement will be made soon.
