2015 Audi A6 Review: Updated Infotainment and Engine Options
Launch Overview
Audi Middle East recently held a media event for the launch of the 2015 Audi A6 range. This updated model features new headlights, revised infotainment, a tweaked transmission, and new engine options. Overall, there is not much change in the aesthetics, as it retains the handsome look we have admired since 2011. Here are its prices and specs.
Infotainment System
The new A6 is equipped with an advanced MMI infotainment system, powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a well-known name in the smartphone industry. This updated system now supports:
- Handwriting recognition
- Audi Connect
- 4G mobile internet
Additionally, the updated maps and user interface offer a refreshing and modern look.
Engine Options
The new A6 is now available with a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 252 BHP and 370 Nm of torque. Other engine options include:
- 3.0-liter engine: Producing 333 BHP (up from 310 BHP)
- 4.0-liter engines: Found in the S6/RS6, producing 450 BHP and 560 BHP respectively
Driving Impressions
This was my first experience driving the Audi A6, and I found the car to feel very stable on the highway with minimal wobbling during turns. The Quattro drive provides excellent traction, and all engine options deliver sufficient power to meet various driving needs. However, I personally believe that with the A6's size, the 3.0-liter engine is the best match. The 2.0-liter engine felt somewhat underpowered, and the seating and suspension didn't align well for comfort. Even in comfort mode, the ride may not feel as comfortable for passengers, as the setup seems tailored more for the driver.
Comparative Experience with S6 and RS6
Although I primarily drove the A6 during this trip, I did have a brief experience with both the S6 and RS6. From my limited time, I found the S6 to be more enjoyable to drive than the RS6, mainly due to its lighter weight. The RS6 felt heavier, while the S6 exhibited agility in turns.
Conclusion
I look forward to conducting a full review of the RS6 in the near future, so stay tuned for that. For now, the initial impressions of the new A6 are quite satisfying, to say the least.
