Driving Experience
Crystal Worthem, Marketing Director at Ford Middle East and Africa, commented, “The all-new Expedition represents the very latest thinking in SUV design and capability.” During a 100-kilometer test drive from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah, we explored various terrains, including mountains and desert sands.
Interior Comfort
In the second-row of the XLT trim, the comfort was remarkable with a sunroof, sliding and reclining seats, and numerous amenities:
- Best-in-class leg and hip room
- Fifteen cupholders
- Individual A/C vents
- Dual charging ports
- Media control from the back
Although initially feeling stiff, the ride quality improved once the tire pressure was adjusted from an overinflated 47 Psi.
Off-Road Capability
The driving experience shifted when I took the wheel, engaging the sand mode with traction control off. The Expedition's performance on desert sands was impressive, showcasing its capability and control.
Performance Insights
The XLT trim, equipped with a 375 horsepower engine, performed exceptionally in hilly terrains, proving that size doesn’t hinder capability.
Platinum Model Features
Transitioning to the fully-loaded Platinum model, the ride on tarmac was enhanced with driver assistance features such as:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Adaptive steering
- Lane keeping assist
- Blind spot monitoring
The Platinum variant boasts 400 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, complemented by its Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension, offering a smooth driving experience.
