2022 will be the final production year for the Ford GT. To commemorate the occasion, Ford has revealed the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition. This special GT pays homage to two lightweight GT40 prototypes created by Alan Mann Racing.
Back in 1966 Alan Mann Heritage created two lightweight prototypes of the famous original 1966 GT40 Mk I. While the prototypes couldn’t win any race, they laid the foundations for the lightweight GT Mk II which then went on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.
The GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition gets a cool livery featuring red paint and white and gold stripes. Beautiful white accents are present on the hood, front fender, and rear wing and probably the best bit is the golden “Ford” badging. The number 16 on the hood, doors, and rear wing is a nod to the AM GT-1’s racing number.
Carbon fibre has been quite generously used in the cabin. This special GT has carbon fibre seats and door sills. The seats are further beautified with the gold and red accent stitching and GT logo on the head restraints. Ebony leather and Alcantara has been used for the instrument panel, while pillars and headliner. The car sits on lovely 20 inch wheels which subtly show the red Brembo brake callipers.
Ford has remained coy on the number of units it will be building of the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition. “It’s a great honour for Alan Mann Racing and the Mann family to celebrate the epic motorsports heritage of Ford GT with this fantastic limited-edition car,” said Henry Mann, director, Alan Mann Racing Ltd.
“To see the red and gold colours of our team’s livery come back to life, and to have debuted this new GT alongside one of our original GT40s in Chicago, was a magical occasion,” he concluded.
