Interview with Chris Wilde on the Jaguar F-Pace and Market Expectations
We sat down with Mr. Chris Wilde, Director of Jaguar Land Rover, for a brief interview to discuss his expectations for the F-Pace and Jaguar itself in the Middle East. Here’s a look at the interview:
What advantages does the F-Pace have over its competitors?
The F-Pace strikes a balance between a sports car and an SUV. It is one of the most practical options among sports vehicles. This segment is continually growing, so our competitors include:
- Porsche Macan
- BMW X4
- Audi SQ5
- and other similar vehicles
The quality of dynamics, driving, and control is attributed to our development engineers, who have instilled a sporty feel in the vehicle, which is one of our strongest advantages over competitors.
What is the expected market share for this particular model?
Currently, we haven't confined ourselves, so we can't discuss specific figures. We are very optimistic about this vehicle and consider it a significant achievement. We are also putting in a lot of effort to launch this model so that more people are aware of it. The official launch was on May 2nd.
What are the characteristics of F-Pace customers, and how do you define them?
The vehicle appeals to various demographics, whether single or married with children. However, the segment we target is individuals in their thirties and forties, typically with a small family or in senior management positions. This car also attracts those who appreciate stylish design and outdoor activities.
When will the vehicle be available in the Gulf market?
It has been available since the first week of May.
How is the company's performance in the Middle East?
Jaguar has experienced significant growth over the past year, which also applies to the Middle East region. Recently, we launched two new sedans – XE and XF – within the last 12 months. We expect continued success and growth with the new F-Pace.
What is the best-selling Jaguar model in the Middle East?
The F-Pace will be the best seller.
What are Jaguar's future plans in the Gulf states?
We don't disclose our future plans until the appropriate time. However, I can say that we have accomplished a lot and have updated our lineup over the past five years, and we will not stop there. We are always evolving and adapting to the market while maintaining the core values of Jaguar vehicles. We will share exciting news in the near future.
How does the UAE market perform compared to the rest of the Gulf?
The UAE is our largest market in the region. We have achieved significant growth with the launch of XE and XF. The success continues, and we anticipate more with the F-Pace, as it will attract a new customer segment and gain significant popularity in the UAE. We expect that around 80-90% of F-Pace customers will be new to Jaguar.
What challenges do you face in the Gulf market?
We are not the only ones facing these challenges; the entire automotive industry is dealing with the issues of fuel prices and the economic situation.
