Dubai RTA Enhances Driver Licensing with Smart Tablets

Introduction
The Driver Licensing Department of the Licensing Agency at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the “Smart Tablets (iPad)” project, as announced in a recent media statement.
Project Implementation
The statement highlighted that the iPads have been distributed to RTA inspectors as the initial phase of this project.
Benefits of Smart Tablets
Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Driver Licensing at the Authority, stated:
“We saw a need to work on transforming the testing services of vehicle drivers to electronic to be in line with the constant changes. This is achieved by distributing tablets to inspectors during the practical testing of trainees, which will facilitate the licensing application. It allows for recording observations and errors committed by the trainee during the test more accurately and clearly than the old handwriting method on paper.”
Advanced Features
He added:
“These tablets can calculate all errors. Once connected to the Internet, they are directly linked to the electronic traffic system and show the final result of the trainee.”
