Jaguar's Commitment to Sports Cars

Russ Varney, the development manager of the Jaguar F-Type, stated:

“Jaguar is solely based on sports cars and the F-Type is now a prime example of our work. This does not mean that the XK is dead; the car straddled the GT and sports car segment, but putting more emphasis on the GT side, however, the emphasis wasn’t enough.”

Future of the XK Model

Varney further elaborated on the future of the XK model:

“There is no reason the XK will not exist later on as a real contender in the GT segment. We have a lot of things to do with the F-Type and we expect to work on a lot of it, but some things we can’t just cover on the F-Type and that might be where the XK comes in.”
