Introduction
For those visiting Abu Dhabi from other Emirates, whether for business meetings, shopping, or family gatherings, we are pleased to announce that parking has become easier than ever before. Previously, parking spaces were strictly reserved for residents with limited times, requiring users to register their vehicles before making payment via SMS, which often caused inconvenience.
New Changes to the Parking System
To enhance the existing system and make it significantly easier for all registered vehicle owners in the Emirates, the Department of Transport has introduced a new SMS parking service. This new system eliminates the need to register your vehicle before using the parking space. Additionally, the code for registered vehicles in Abu Dhabi has changed from “RED” to “AUH” under the new system.
New SMS Message Format
The new SMS format now includes: City Plate Code > Space < Plate Number > Space < Parking Type (Main or Sub) > Space < Duration of Parking. The parking type is indicated by "P" for main parking at a rate of 3 dirhams per hour, and "S" for sub-parking at a rate of 2 dirhams per hour.
Example of an SMS
An example of the SMS used for vehicles registered in Dubai would be: DXBJ 34342 S 2.
