Peugeot 3008 Review: The Stylish Crossover SUV

Introduction
There is some good news for French automobile lovers. The not-so-popular French brand in the GCC – Peugeot – has decided to put things into perspective. It has opted to ditch the minivan styling of the 3008 and replace it with an SUV bodystyle for the new generation. The previous minivan styling wasn’t impressing many, thus the drastic change aims to gain some foothold in the hugely popular SUV segment.
Design
The current design of the 3008 is showcased as a crossover, but the styling may be too ‘French’ for the taste of GCC buyers, potentially working better in Europe.

Second Generation Reveal
Well, the second-generation 3008 was unveiled to the world ahead of its official debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show in late September. The design of the new 3008 is based on the Peugeot Quartz Concept unveiled in 2014. It finally looks like the compact crossover SUV it is meant to be. The most interesting aspects of the design are:
- Sporty headlights and taillights
- Subtle styling, avoiding a rash appearance like some competitors
- Chassis based on the Peugeot 308
Interior Features
The interior of the 3008 looks futuristic and appealing. Key features include:
- A silver and black color combination with aluminum accents (mostly faux)
- A tablet-styled infotainment screen
- A digital instrument cluster for modern aesthetics
The 3008 will be powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, with further details to be released upon the car's official launch. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with options for FWD or AWD. The first batch of 3008s is expected to be delivered in 2017.
