Renault's Performance in the Middle East: An Interview with Leslie Ramsoomar
Leslie Ramsoomar, Sales Director at Renault in the Middle East, joined us on our recent trip to Paris for the launch of the Koleos and Talisman. He shared insights about Renault's performance in the region.
Challenges Facing Renault
Do you think Renault is having a tough time competing with Japanese rivals?
We face the challenge of not being as well-known as Japanese cars in the Gulf countries, but we are doing everything we can to increase our visibility. The launch of the Talisman and Koleos will play a significant role in how Renault establishes its presence in the market.
New Models
Apart from the Talisman and Koleos, are there any other models expected?
While I can't share many details at this moment, I can say that new models are expected to be released, and they will be part of the "B" segment, which includes small to medium-sized vehicles.
Top-Selling Models in the UAE
What is the best-selling model in the UAE?
The two best-selling models in the UAE are the Renault Duster and Renault Symbol. Recently, Renault introduced the Dokker, which helps us meet customer demand and increase value.
Success of the Captur
Has the Renault Captur been as successful as expected?
I wouldn’t say it has exceeded our expectations, but we are definitely pleased with the performance of the Captur. I can say that a new engine is on the way.
Electric Vehicles
What is your outlook on electric vehicles in the Gulf? Has the Twizy been successful for the company?
Currently, we have not commercially launched the Twizy and Zoe officially. We are working with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to overcome one of the biggest challenges, which is the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
What Sets Renault Apart
What makes Renault special, and why should someone consider buying one?
Renault offers customers the right deal with competitive pricing and excellent performance. While our competitors may provide additional features at extra costs, Renault aims to offer as many features as possible in the standard vehicle.
