Sharjah Police Introduces New Radars to Monitor Noise from Modified Cars

In an effort to reduce noise disturbances in residential areas, Sharjah Police have installed new radars aimed at curbing the activities of noisy drivers. These innovative radars are capable of capturing sound and video, as well as measuring the noise levels of passing vehicles in decibels.
Penalties for Drivers
Vehicles exceeding 95 decibels will face penalties.
Colonel Mohammed Ali Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols, warned that:
- The fine for drivers whose vehicles exceed the 95 decibel threshold will be 2,000 AED.
- Drivers will accumulate 12 black points on their licenses.
- Vehicles may be impounded for up to six months under Article 20 of the Federal Traffic Law.
Objective of the Campaign
This initiative aims to mitigate the disturbances caused by modified vehicles for the residents of Sharjah. The radar system was inaugurated by Major General Saif Ziri Al Shamsi, Chief of Sharjah Police, in the presence of Colonel Mohammed Ali Al Naqbi and Colonel Rashid Al Fardan, Head of Traffic Engineering Department.
Expansion of Radar Deployment
It has also been confirmed that more of these devices will be deployed across the emirate.
