Inauguration of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street in Dubai
Today marks the opening of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, with a total investment of 474 million AED. This new highway spans 25 kilometers, connecting the Dubai-Al Ain Road and the Yalayis Road in Jebel Ali. The street is designed to serve residents in areas such as "The Villa," "Remraam," and "Falcon City."
The new road runs parallel to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road (E611), extending to Dubai Investment Park through the winding street off Yalayis Road.
Statements from Officials
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, stated, "The new road features multiple intersections that connect with the surrounding road network."
- A flyover has been constructed at the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, near the entrance to Global Village for those coming from Emirates Road.
- A signal-controlled roundabout has been implemented at its intersection with Al Qudra Road.
- A signal-controlled surface intersection with Hessa Road has been constructed.
The development of these intersections is part of a phased approach and will be further enhanced in the future to address traffic solutions. The project also included the installation of lighting, protection, and the relocation of service lines.
Benefits of the New Road
The new eight-lane highway will facilitate movements for those relying on the Dubai-Al Ain Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to access areas such as "City of Arabia," Global Village, Arabian Ranches, and Dubai Sports City.
This new highway is part of the main projects for Expo 2020 in Dubai and is aligned with the Roads and Transport Authority's master plan aimed at improving roads, bridges, crossings, and underpasses to accommodate the increasing traffic volume across Dubai.
