Introduction
Drivers seeking to obtain a driving license in the UAE utilize "smart vehicles" to conduct internal parking tests, ensuring more accurate and unbiased results. To acquire a driving license in the United Arab Emirates, individuals must complete three tests:
- Theoretical Test
- Yard Test
- Road Test
Details of the Yard Test
The Yard Test, which is now fully automated, evaluates an individual's skills in parallel parking, garage parking, and emergency braking through multiple cameras and sensors installed in smart vehicles. This new system significantly reduces the margin of error in the decision-making process regarding "pass" or "fail" outcomes and greatly enhances safety.
Cameras Used in the Yard Test
The Yard Test is equipped with five surveillance cameras:
- Four cameras outside the test vehicle to assist the examiner
- One camera on the vehicle to verify the individual's identity
Current Statistics
The system has already been implemented in 15 tests across Dubai, with over 108,603 candidates having taken the smart yard test since its inception.
