With the advent of fitness trackers, customers really have found a ‘healthy’ use for smartphones. Now, makers of FIXD have used that same principle, but for cars. The FIXD is basically a small device that connects to the car’s On Board Diagnostics-II port – underneath the steering wheel – and transmits analytical data about the car to the smartphone via Bluetooth. The data includes:

- Status of oil and air filter

- Status of airbag

- Coolant level

- Miles covered before specific problem arises

- Cost estimates (crowd-sourced as rates are not fixed)

The device does not need to be constantly charged like other similar devices as it is directly powered by the car. Moreover, the founder assures highest level of security from hackers.

Initially, it will be available only for Android and soon iOS variant will follow. Early bird price is $40 for one device and delivery starts by April next year if the project succeeds. It is part of Kickstarter campaign and requires $30,000 to achieve its goal. You can watch the demo below.
